Title: "Surrounded by Love:  My Family's Journey Through ALS" with Jan Schmitz Mathew

Description:

"Surrounded By Love: My Family's Journey Through ALS," written by Jan Schmitz Mathew was recently published and released by Corby Books.

The book centers on Mathew's father, University of Illinois alumnus Roger Schmitz, and his remarkable grace when faced with a disease that is 100 percent fatal. How does it feel to watch your father, your hero, lose his life incrementally and relentlessly? How do you travel with him, and what does his journey teach you?

"I wrote this book to celebrate a life extraordinarily well lived; to offer support and encouragement to other families facing the same heartbreaking path; and to raise awareness for this rare motor neuron disease, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease," says Mathew.

Roger Schmitz died of ALS in October 2013, and Mathew's share of proceeds from book sales have been, and will continue to be, donated to Champaign-Urbana area ALS families in need.

"Surrounded By Love: My Family's Journey Through ALS" is available on the publisher's website, www.corbybooks.com, and on Amazon. It is also available at the Champaign Public Library.
