Title:  "Empowering Each Other By Erasing Societal Norms" with Denise Poindexter and Mariana Ortega of The Complicated DM Podcast

Description:
Think you are behind in life?! Join the crowd or listen to the dynamic duo of The Complicated DM to feel empowered to know you are where you need to be! Social media paints a distorted view of the reality for the majority of us, yet, we strive for the perfect life we think others are living. In this presentation, Denise and Mariana will give you tips on how to focus on self and give you the courage needed to live authentically.

About the Speakers:

Denise Renee Poindexter, co-founder of The Complicated DM Podcast, has extensive experience leading an executive search services team and overseeing the operations and development of executive recruitment. Denise is an advocate for women- in the home, at work, and in the community. She dedicates her spare time to several local non-profit organizations in the Champaign-Urbana community and co-hosts a podcast created to educate and engage an audience in thoughtful dialogue around relevant life-journey topics.

Currently residing in Champaign, Illinois, Denise holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Arkansas State University and a Master of Public Administration from Troy University.  She actively practices self-care with her dog, Sasha Renee, tasting new wines, and traveling the world.

She spent the majority of her formative years growing up in South Florida where her immediate family resides. Currently, a PhD student in the College of Education with a focus on Human Resources and Development. Her Bachelor’s and Masters is from The University of West Florida. She has a passion for serving the Latinx community and is the current Director for La Casa Cultural Latina at The University of Illinois.
