Title:  "Refreshing your Networking Skills to Get the Most Out of Your ECCC Experience" with Sarah Zehr

Description:
Executive Club of Champaign County is a networking group for professional women.  But what makes for effective networking?  Our presenter, Sarah Zehr, is going to remind us why we joined this organization in the first place and refresh how we think about networking.  Whether you are a naturally outgoing person or still building up your confidence, this discussion will be full of ideas and anecdotes on the good, the bad and the awkward sides of networking. We will set goals and have interactive discussions about how to improve our skills, as we take away tangible tools we can use to strengthen how we represent ourselves and build a network in the community.

About the Speaker:
Sarah M. Zehr is Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for the University of Illinois System. In this role, she works closely with the Executive Vice President/Vice President for Academic Affairs to lead and manage academic programs and activities for the three campuses in the University of Illinois system. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Education and teaches the introductory course in the Higher Education curriculum. Sarah has previous experience in admissions, career services, public engagement, international relations, and corporate relations. She started her career in the consulting industry and worked in nonprofit before joining the University of Illinois.

Sarah earned a BS in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a PhD in Higher Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests include experiential learning programs such as internships, cooperative education, and apprenticeships, as well as higher education policy and international issues. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys international travel, reading, and (believe it or not) networking. She credits networking for much of her career advancement.
