Presenter: P. Scott Carney
Scott is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois as well as co-founder and chief scientific officer at Diagnostic Photonics.
Diagnostic Photonics developed The Enlighten imaging probe which places a live view of tissue microstructure at the surgeon's fingertips, providing immediate insight into disease pathology during surgery. With knowledge of tissue microstructure in hand, clinicians can make more informed decisions and provide better care.
Scott is a physicist and expert in theoretical optics. He earned a PhD in 1999 at the University of Rochester and has been a member of the faculty at the University of Illinois since 2001. His current research interests include near-field optics, coherence theory, inverse scattering, and other aspects of theoretical optics.
